The anniversary of my Dad's death is coming up...February 1st. Thanks to all of you who have been there for me before and since he died. I have written some lyrics that I would like to turn into a song:
When I was on the stage
my dad would sit and stare
at his little girl before him
with the spotlight in her hair
He was always on the front row
a smile upon his face
and when the show was over
I'd feel the pride in his embrace.
The one promise that I'd made him
I never will forget
and if I'd only tried much harder
there'd be nothing to regret.
chorus:
a 1955 with white wall tires, the color powder blue
El Dorado, power top and automatic, too.
Dad...I wanted this for you.
The years flew quickly by
and I got lazy in my ways
'Cause I took our time for granted
Every night and all my days
Some things you can't imagine
so you think they'll never be
I never thought that death would take
my dad away from me.
*chorus*
I didn't get to say goodbye
or sing him my first hit
as long as I am breathing
I know I never will forget
I promised him...
